Flea Control & Treatment

Fleas are readily controlled provided you take a few simple steps. The majority of fleas found in our homes are of the ‘Cat Flea’ variety. This type of flea prefers the cat or dog as its host: however, it may also use humans. The name ‘Sand Flea’ is commonly used. This is not a different variety of flea but a term describing a location where fleas are often found. Fleas generally only bite humans where there is a severe plague or when the normal host animal has left the premises. For example, it is quite common to experience a flea plague after a pet’s death or when moving into a vacant premise that has previously housed a dog or cat.

Internal

Internally we will treat around skirting boards focusing mainly in the carpeted areas and any other problem areas. We will treat most rooms (if not all) within the home to help control the problem.  Preparation is required for internal flea treatment. Please see the notes below.

External

Externally we will apply a reside spray around the external of the home. We will also treat in and around garden beds focusing on gravel and sand areas.

Preparation for Internal Flea Treatment.

01 Pets

If you have a pet, contact your vet for advice on the many different flea products available.
Treat your pet and its bedding for the fleas the day before we treat your home. Any earlier and all your effort will be wasted!

02 Vacuum

Vacuum carpets, floors and upholstered furniture. Pay particular attention to areas that are not disturbed often, for example, behind doors, furniture, cupboards etc. Don’t forget underneath the couch and other furniture.

03 Before Binning

The contents of the vacuum cleaner dust bag should be treated with an insecticide or placed in the freezer for 24 hours before disposal.

04 Treatment & Control

After all, preparation is completed, we will come to your home and spray all carpet areas and any affected areas outside, mainly concentrating on the soil. This product will leave a residual. Be aware that more than one pesticide treatment may be required for a severe infestation.

Flea Treatment Service Agreement
(free treatment period)

All Flea treatments come with a 3-month service agreement. If your pest comes back within these 3 months, we will go back and retreat free of charge.

Why is this important?
When purchasing products such as electronic equipment you receive a warranty. This warranty comes in handy if something breaks and you need to get it fixed. When it comes to pest control, it is very similar. Pests are unpredictable, and some infestations are harder to control than others. This is why Stewarts offer a Service Agreement with most of our pest control treatments. It's your safeguard and your quality service guarantee!
